1.Why is my computer unable to connect to the internet?

A. If you have had a connection to the internet working before,

make sure your account with your service provider is still valid.

2.My children loaded some games recently and now it my PC

doesn't seem to work properly. Why?

A. Loading games that are not designed to run on your PC or are

not from a recommended manufacturer are often the cause.

First uninstall them.

3.I deleted some files I thought I didn't need and now my PC won't start,

what have I done?

A. Oops! this one is a bit of a big problem at this point so always be sure

what you are deleting and NEVER delete anything from the windows folder.

4.I have software copied by my friend and their license number, can I install

this?

A. No. It is illegal to install a copy of software that has not been bought

from the manufacturer.

5.I have lost my CD rom disc drivers for my :- modem, graphics card,

network card, printer, scanner, sound card. Can you help?

A. Yes, legally you have a right to the drivers of any hardware peripheral or

card (except the operating system) so we can reinstall this for you and

provide you with a copy of the driver/s you have lost.

6.I have lost all my Icons, how do I get them back?

A. Oh dear! We can help, but may have to take your computer back to our

workshop to do this.

7.My programs no longer seem to work properly, why?

A. Have you installed anti virus and firewall software and kept them up to

date? If not you probably have a virus

8.My system will not complete a defrag. What is wrong?

A. There is an application running in the background so the files are

constantly changing. Shutdown all programs that are not needed (including

some screensavers such as seti)

9.I want to upgrade my operating system from XP to Vista or Windows 7

A. First buy the appropriate upgrade and then a clean install is best.

10.How do I do a clean install?

A. If you have never tried this before, leave it to professionals like PC Clinic
